This is kind of a meta-reply. It doesn't address your comments
directly, but it's something I thought of.
I don't think anyone would disagree with the statement that there are
lots of things we should/could do to make Miro better for some/many/all
Miro users. The problem is prioritizing time spent on doing them.
Where can we get the most bang for our time spent? How do we quantify that?
I use a few basic methods to figure out where to spend my time. The
first is that I look at how many votes a given enhancement has in
Bugzilla, how many comments, and how fleshed out the enhancement is in
terms of specification.
Another thing I do is see if someone has attached a patch to the bug.
If someone's done some work on the issue, that make is 10x easier for me
to get a handle on the scope, specifics, issues, and finish the
implementation.
The third thing I do is work on things that affect me personally because
if it's affecting me, then I usually have a very clear idea of what the
issue is, the context, the pieces involved, and how to implement/fix it.
Anyhow, the first two items are directly related to discussion on the
enhancement/bug in Bugzilla. I encourage you to take some time to add
your comments and thoughts to that bug and any others you have thoughts
about and take the time to vote on it, too.
That's definitely the best way to give me input on my development
direction. I'm pretty sure that's true of anyone who works on Miro, but
we just recently switched to Bugzilla and it's possible/likely that
it'll take some more time to get used to using it.
I should turn this into a blog post. I'm not sure if the rest of the
world understands how I set my priorities or how I think we should be
using Bugzilla for project management.
So to conclude, I'm not suggesting you shouldn't ping the develop list
with thoughts, ideas, suggestions and concerns. I am suggesting you use
Bugzilla to make sure that your comments, suggestions, ideas, and
concerns are in the system.
Also, I encourage you to talk with other users and together push things
through. The better the discussion we have on these enhancements, the
better the enhancements will turn out.
